When I’m not spending extortionate amounts of money on rent and brunch I can be found browsing a cosmetics counter – literally hours of my life are spent inhaling powdery perfumes, covering my hands in swipes of everything on offer and talking with the experts on the counter.
Whilst I was there I kept a small (now retired) blog with a ridiculously long name ‘lists.life.love.livs’ – what can I say I’m a sucker for alliteration. Eventually finals, internships and life got in the way and the blog lay idle.
However, my obsession with cosmetics and writing about them did not as I went on to secure an internship on the Vogue beauty desk! There I was inspired by Nicola Molton, her team and the awe-inspiring beauty closet.
Here I really began playing around with writing style knowing that if my blog was ever to resurface it needed to have a clearer identity as I desperately wanted my personality to come through. Speaking about products as if I was telling my best friend (yo Jules what’s up?) a story about my week which happened to feature my new favourite lipstick – rather than mirroring the sleek world of editorials (which are life…just not me).
I went on from Vogue to working in marketing in a job and company I just adore. However I sometimes found myself writing little beauty stories in my head on the tube to and from work. They had no audience and I never put pen to paper until now.
Which leads me to…
Beauty Tales – a snapshot of my life as told through the lens of my favourite products.
Enjoy. Livs xoxo
